Daring Bakers January - Tuile

This month's challenge is brought to us by Karen of Bake My Day and Zorra of 1x umruehren bitte aka Kochtopf. They have chosen Tuiles from The Chocolate Book by Angélique Schmeink and Nougatine and Chocolate Tuiles from Michel Roux.

Daring Bakers - January

Part of this month's challenge was to pair the tuile with something fruity. After a few slightly oddball ideas -- tuile volcano with cherry lava, anyone? -- I eventually decided to get into the Valentine's Day spirit a little early with heart-shaped tuile and chocolate-covered strawberries.

So... I've never had tuiles, so I can't really say for sure if this recipe turned out right. They seemed much thicker than what I've seen... but they tasted fine to me. These were veganized with apple sauce instead of egg whites, as suggested by Becky on the Daring Bakers alternative baking forum.

I decided to forego the stencil idea, and instead used a piping bag to trace along the inside of a cookie cutter. This may have been my downfall, as my hearts turned out a little thicker than I imagine they should be.

Of all the posts I've read, this looks the most like something I could just sit down in front of and inhale. Lovely!

Hi, we're on the same DB posting page. Your dessert looks delish!
I was tempted to forego the stencil, it did say your could use a pastry bag. but once my bag burst mid-pipe, I was glad I had the stencil to fall back on.
And how can you not love the robot in the background!
